The Garage Door Company Story
Bradley & Ben Long knew nothing about garage doors when they inherited a carpentry business from their father in 2000. They just knew how to make things fit. They had to, since the one small, dingy office where they worked didn’t afford them much space.
One day the brothers’ stepfather sent them on an errand to track down two garage doors he needed. As if fate had destined them to meet, the leading web supplier of garage doors in the UK stood less than 2 miles from their stepfather’s house. When the two brothers arrived they learned that the man who ran it couldn’t handle the amount of business he was doing and needed help.
“What if we combined our carpentry skills with selling garage doors?” the brothers thought. “Anyone can sell garage doors; but if we personally installed them they would work properly and last longer than anyone else’s. We need to learn all we can about installing garage doors.”
Their quest took them to a training course with Hormann, the biggest manufacturer of garage doors in Europe. While there, the company was so impressed with the brothers’ skill and enthusiasm, they offered them the first direct account ever to be given to a new Garage Door business with no trading history, on one condition: They had to set up a showroom where they could demonstrate the quality and beauty of their products to every customer.
The showroom at the Garage Door Company is a tribute to the excellence and quality of work that Bradley and Ben Long have pursued from the small, dingy room where their tiny business started. Their 6 fully working garage doors and display panels from every other major manufacturer and material type let customers see and feel the quality that will soon be protecting their home. Plus, each member of their staff receives the same installation training the brothers themselves received to make sure that every door works properly.
