| Up & Over (Retractable): Retractable or Tracked Garage Doors use horizontal, ceiling mounted tracks to support the door in the open position. This opening mechanism is the ideal for use with electric garage door openers and is also the standard lifting gear for double sized garage doors and single garage doors over 2438mm wide.
The retractable up and over garage door gear takes slightly longer to install than canopy-based ones as the tracks are fixed to the ceiling joists inside the garage.
Security is generally good when multipoint latching is fitted to a retractable garage door. However when automated these latches are disabled and the garage door could possibly be forced open at the base depending on the quality of the operator and set-up. Make sure you choose a good quality electric garage door opener with forced entry protection. Automatic de-latching systems are available to overcome this problem if necessary. |
